The News Channel is a Wii channel that shows news around the World that is factory installed on the Wii since System Menu 2.0. There is a dummy version of the News Channel on System Menu 1.0 that required the update to System Menu 2.0. It used WiiConnect24 until its discontinuation. It is now unofficially supported by RiiConnect24.
Like on the Forecast Channel, the virtual Earth globe was created by imagery made by NASA.
