The Wii Auto Erase Disc is a software disc used in Nintendo repair centers which removes customer data from a Wii, equivalent to the Wii Menu's factory reset feature. It should not be confused with the Wii Crusher, a much more powerful disc used in the factory to refurbish consoles.
In early 2022, a photo of the Auto Erase Disc was uploaded to a site called TheGamesDB by user b3l0kk. They since provided a copy of the disc for Redump, having apparently obtained 2 of them via eBay. Additionally, the Auto Erase Disc program source code was also leaked in the Zammis Clark Breach.
A Nintendo employee responded via email that they haven't received requests to obtain a Wii Auto Erase Disc since around 2012, and they recycled the remaining discs in around 2017. They also confirmed the Wii U doesn't have an auto erase disc.
Behavior
The disc retrieves data from the NAND to wipe. This includes downloaded channels, all save data, Miis, settings, etc.
