Maintenance Mode is a mode in the Wii Menu. For a long time, no one knew its actual purpose. Someone thought it was to hide personal information during a Wii repair. However, its true purpose as said in the SDK is to save Wiis from bricks, which is what most people use it for. It was designed to fix problems created from banners, mainly for RVT debug units.
CHANS scripts, RSOs, WiiConnect24 and the Wii Message Board are disabled in Maintenance Mode.
