Home Menu

The HOME Menu is the menu that appears when the HOME button is pressed on a Wii Remote. As the Wii can only run one program at a time, the menu itself is included with every Wii game. From this menu, the player is able to exit or reset the game, as well as adjusting the Wii Remote's settings: these settings include the volume of the Wii Remote speaker, the rumble feature being turned on and off, and disconnecting and reconnecting any Wii Remotes that the player wishes to add or remove.

Settings for the HOME Menu can be configured by developers: a common setting is choosing what is displayed behind the HOME Menu's UI elements, whether it be the game itself (and any other visual effects the developer may add it to it, such as dimming), a graphic of alternating black and grey lines, or any other graphic the developer chooses. Games are typically paused when the HOME Menu is accessed, though in some cases, such as Ennichi no Tatsujin and Trauma Team, the game may continue to visibly run while the player is using the menu.

Channels often include virtual manuals that can be accessed through the HOME Menu through a third "Operations Manual" button: these use the VCMV (Virtual Console Manual Viewer) library, which internally relies on a simplified version of the Opera browser.
