The CAT-R Writer was the official writer for CAT-R discs. Like the RVT and NR writers, it is likely a reflashed version of an off-the-shelf drive (in this case a BD-R drive), but it's unknown which model.
Since CAT-R discs are writable by regular BD-R burners, it's possible the firmware on the writer isn't even modified.
